pidgin-skype software package provides Skype plugin for libpurple messengers (Pidgin-specific files), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pidgin-skype
pidgin-skype is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pidgin-skype package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pidgin-skype *
You will get with pidgin-skype package name, version, architecture and description in a table
